A vegetable tray is one of the best options at most of the dinner and lunch functions. They go very well with the other dishes that are served at the party. Also health conscious persons prefer vegetables. So, if you are hosting a party then vegetables are a must.

It is very essential to present the vegetable tray in an eye appealing manner to your guests.

Complexity level: Easy

Time taken: The time taken for carving and assembling the vegetables depends on the complexity of the carving. If you choose to do some simple carving you will need around 10 minutes for the preparation, 20 minutes for the carving and assembling. So, it totally requires around 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Vegetable tray can be easily prepared if you plan and gather all the things you need in advance. This will reduce your preparation time for the vegetable tray.

  1. A round vegetable tray/platter with cavities.
  2. A dip cup.
  3. 5-7 varieties of vegetables.

Choose around five or six different vegetables.

Vegetables needed

  1. Carrots
  2. Broccoli
  3. Red peppers
  4. Green onions
  5. Celery
  6. Mushrooms
  7. Cauliflower
  8. Asparagus

Process

Wash all the vegetables and dry them well. Remove all the unwanted parts of the vegetables like the leaves and roots.

Leafy Lettuce: Separate lettuce leaves, use these leaves to line the vegetable platter.

Broccoli: Cut small florets and serve them individually.

Cauliflower: The head of the cauliflower pieces should be cut and each piece should be served individually.

Cherry Tomatoes: Stems of the cherry tomatoes should be removed and it should be served dry.

Carrots: If baby carrots are used then they can be sliced and served, if large ones are used then they should be cut into 4″X4″ pieces and served.

Celery: The leafy portions of the celery should be discarded and cut the stalks into 4” pieces.

Mushrooms: If your idea is to use baby mushrooms instead of large ones then let 1/4 of the stalk remain. If you are using large ones then. If you are using large ones then serve each individual piece.

Green Pepper: Remove the seeds and stem. Cut the pieces in 1/4″ by 4″ in length.

First arrange the iceberg lettuce on the plate. Then start arranging the vegetables, the manner of arrangement is your choice. To make it appealing to the eye, use an alternate dark and light colored vegetable. Leave an opening in the center of your tray for your vegetable dip.

Tips

If a flat and round serving dish is used then the vegetables can be partitioned with a celery stick. You can add the extra touch by garnishing with green and black olives. So, just platter the carved veggies and serve it with style.
