There’s tangy pasta, creamy pasta, spicy pasta, and a lot more that could be dished out. Making pasta is really as easy as it sounds but even the smallest of mistakes in making a dish like this can leave you with soggy, sticky, or hard pasta. Its very important not too overcook or under cook the pasta to get a perfect dish. Here are some small yet every interesting tips to make a better pasta every time!

  • Tip 1 : Like any other edible item, pasta has to be of a very good quality. This is the first and the most important step while planning of making pasta at home. Read the labels and look for an ingredient called “durum semolina”. This ingredient, mainly consisting of wheat, contributes to the texture and color of the pasta. Pastas with this ingredient usually are the best for any type of pasta preparation.
  • Tip 2 : The sauce is another main content of this dish that gets taste into it. Now the step that needs to be taken care of is the type of sauce you choose has to go along with the shape for the pasta you are using. A smooth sauce goes well with spaghetti and a thicker, creamier one goes well with hollow ones like penne or spiral.
  • Tip 3 : The first step to making a great dish of pasta is boiling your pasta in water. And this is also the most important step in terms of the softness of the pasta. Make sure the vessel you use is quite wide enough to get all the pasta well dipped in water and also make sure that the water quantity is sufficient enough. You will want enough space for every single pasta to boil well.
  • Tip 4 : While you go ahead to add the desired amount of salt to the boiling water, make sure you taste the water. Stop when the water tastes like sea water. The water shouldn’t be more salty unless you like your pasta that way.
  • Tip 5 : Please DO NOT add any oil to your pasta. There are no shortcuts to get the perfect pasta. You will have to avoid using oil because oil will only get stuck to the pasta further avoiding the sauce of this yummy dish to stick to it. The best way is to stir really well once you have put the pasta in the boiling water and only stir occasionally after that.
  • Tip 6 : Another interesting tip will be not to throw away the water of the boiled pasta. The water has a lot of pasta taste in it. You can use this water when you are making your sauce and you need to loosen it a bit. It can also be used while serving. When the creamy pasta tends to get too thick, adding a little of this water instead of normal plain water will keep the taste intact.
  • Tip 7 : While boiling the pasta and stirring occasionally, keep checking if it is getting overcooked. One good way is to remove from flame when its almost close to 3/4th done or when famously known as ” al dente”.
  • Tip 8 : Add only the right amount of sauce to your pasta. If you over sauce your pasta, thinking of getting more taste, you will only taste the sauce and not the pasta. Pasta is the main ingredient of the dish and it really has its own unique taste that shouldn’t be lost.
  • Tip 9 : The last step before you serve your pasta is to season it. Season it with herbs, cheese, or whatever matches well with your plate of pasta. Adding parsley or cheese to creamy pasta and adding oregano, olives, or pepper to a tangy dish of pasta is a great idea. Seasoning also gives a nice look to your dish. Season only when you are about to serve.
  • Tip 10 : You may use your microwave to heat up any dish to serve it piping hot, but not pasta. To get the freshly cooked look and to keep the aromas in place, please serve and eat your pasta immediately.
