If you love music and avocados, then Carpinteria, California, is the place to be this October 4–6, 2019. The AVOFEST is celebrating its 33rd year of “Peace, Love & Guacamole” and is the premier festival for avocado fans. You can enjoy over 75 music acts on four different stages throughout the weekend. Be sure to come hungry because this festival is home to the world’s largest vat of guacamole.

Venue and Timings

California Avocado FestivalThe weekend celebrates the humble avocado with its rich, deep green skin and tasty inside that we all love. The festival is located at 800 Linden Avenue and the surrounding blocks. Festival hours are from 1 PM to 10 PM on Friday, from 10 AM to 10 PM on Saturday and 10 AM to 6 PM. on Sunday. The weekend promises fun and games for all ages.

The Main Events

Free doggy daycare is available so that pet parents can enjoy the festivities. There will also be a Kids Venue, where children can compete in a Best Dressed Avocado Contest and take part in other activities like game and face painting. Be sure not to miss the street filled with local artisans offering their local creations for sale.

The weekend rounds out with the 2019 Guacamole Contest on Sunday. It is fun for those who think they have the best guacamole recipe, and for those who get to sample them. The entire weekend is full of avocado recipes, a celebration of agriculture centered around the avocado, and of course, there is the largest avocado contest. Many come to the festival to sample the many different creative and delicious avocado creations from vendors throughout the festival.

AVOFEST is one of California’s biggest free festivals. Last year, the festival achieved its goal of zero waste. And it always helps a good cause as a 501c3 that uses funds generated to support other organizations in the local community. The event attracted over 80,000 visitors last year and is expected to achieve the same success this year. Over $100,000 worth of funds went back into the local community and initiatives to serve local residents.

You might want to come to the festival and stay a few extra days to see the area. Many Visitors love the Carpinteria State Beach. The beach has a gentle slope and plenty of Wildlife.

Carpinteria is a peaceful, beach community that is just a short drive from other popular tourist sites in Santa Barbara County. The area is known for its plethora of vineyards and fine dining. It is also a beautiful natural area. The Santa Barbara Zoo and Shoreline Park are popular destinations in the area.

MalibuIf you want a little bit more nightlife and excitement, you can stay at one of the hotels near Malibu and drive about an hour to the festival. Hotels include the Malibu Beach Inn, Nobu Ryokan Malibu, and the Malibu Country Inn. Our favorite place to stay is the Hyatt Regency Westlake. It is located in Westlake Village near beautiful Thousand Oaks. It offers spacious, comfortable rooms in a resort-like atmosphere.
