With Amul exporting cheese to the Middle East, USA, Singapore, Hong Kong, and neighboring countries like Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka, it has emerged as world’s biggest brand of vegetarian cheese. The current figures show that with 600tonne exports, 50 percent share in the stock market, which includes 90 percent shares from its cheese spreads, Amul heads towards a 20 percent growth this year.
The credit goes to its quality of production and the use of rennet either from fungal or bacterial sources…the land that worships cows does not derive the coagulating enzyme from the stomach of slaughtered newly born calves.
