Why did my bisquick waffle recipe turned out to be chewy?

I initiated with mixing one egg, one and a half cup full of milk, two teaspoons of the vegetable oil and two cups of the bisquick mix. Using the measuring cups I fill about 4 times for milk and six times for the bisquick to increase the batter. But at the end of the whole procedure when I was finished with the recipe and tried to taste it they were gone all chewy. Why did my bisquick waffle recipe turned out to be chewy? Can you tell me how do you make them and how can I correct my procedure?
