10 cocktail recipes to beat the summer heat

Summer is the season for fun, sun and delicious cocktails. While visiting your favorite bar may be the first thing that pops into your head when you feel the summer heat, there’s another way you can go about sipping your favorite cocktail – make it yourself. You don’t need to be an expert in mixing, just follow the instructions we’ve compiled below to create scrumptious concoctions you can share with your friends.

Before we begin, there are a few tools that you should have before creating any cocktail. These will ensure that your drinks are mixed well as well as making it easier for you to complete the task. Make it a point to have a blender, strainer and a shaker.

1. Cosmopolitan

Ingredients: 2 parts of citron vodka, 1 part of orange liqueur, 1 part of cranberry juice, a splash (1.32 of an ounce) of lemon juice and a twist of orange.

Process: Add a liberal amount of ice cubes to a shaker and fill in all the ingredients. Next, shake and strain the cocktail into a cocktail glass and garnish with orange. It is advised that you chill the glass which will help keep the drink crisp and cool.

2. Brandy Crusta

Ingredients: 5 parts of cognac, 2 parts of lemon juice, 2 dashes of bitters, 1 part of Maraschino liqueur, 1 part of orange liqueur and a spiral of lemon.
